Scrapbook Page Idea with Only Paper

Hi friends! We have a fun scrapbook challenge for you today and ideas for scrapbooking on a budget! You can make this cute scrapbook page idea with only paper and a few easy techniques! Read on for all the fun ideas and tips!

Scrapbook Challenge: Create a scrapbook page with only paper!

• Every now & then I enjoy doing a scrapbook or crafting challenge! I am challenging you to follow with me and only use paper!
• I am using 2 pieces of patterned paper, a card stock paper and paper doilies for my scrapbook page.

Scrapbook Tip to Stretch Your Supplies:

• Fussy Cutting is the perfect technique to use when you are scrapbooking on a budget! You can use only paper and cut out all kinds of different images, designs and art elements. Think of these as your own die cuts, ephemera pieces and even stickers. You only have to add your own adhesive instead of them being sticky already!
• I love to look for illustrations on patterned papers where I can fussy cut using my faithful precision scissors. This fussy cutting technique is totally perfect where you want to use certain illustrations on your project. It’s also great for when you run out of embellishments but you have many patterned papers left!  (Read more on how to do the fussy cutting technique here.)

How to Make this Cute Scrapbook Page Idea with Only Paper:

• First choose your papers! I loved this really cute patterned paper called Daydream because it has all these darling illustrations.
• Use scissors to fussy cut out all the design elements and illustrations you want to use on your scrapbook page.
• Third, I cut three strips of paper from this striped pattern paper and made my own paper fringe. Using these fringe cutting scissors you can make DIY paper fringe so quickly! (Here’s a great post for how to make DIY paper fringe quickly and easily!)
• Next, I positioned all the fussy cuts on top of the white cardstock to bring out the fun colors! I decided to start from top to bottom and filled any gaps with the rest of the other fussy cuts and paper doilies. Remember to use 3d foam squares to create dimension when layering the cut outs.
• Following that, I adhered the photo of me & my daughters that we snapped during Mother’s Day.
• Finally, I snuck in a small piece of this gold star trim and a few gold mist splatters all around the layout to add a little sparkle. Besides this I followed the challenge and used only paper!

Bonus Fussy Cutting Tip:

• First, whenever I cut out the illustrations, I always cut a rough outline first.
• Then, I will cut out the illustration close to the edges to get a smoother cut.
• It’s easier this way because then you only have a small piece of paper to work with instead of the full sheet.
• Finally, be sure to move or turn the paper illustration as you cut and not your scissors. This gives you a nicer cut!
