Hey everyone, it’s Kathleen back with you again and today I have a really quick and easy craft idea to share with you. For today’s project I took my inspiration from the rainbow trend that you probably all have seen in papercrafting, fashion and home decor. This is also a fun and easy craft to make with kids or teens! 
Supplies needed for making these cute handmade rainbow cards:
- Pattern papers in rainbow colors (you can use also your paper scraps for this!) Here are the papers I used: Maggie Holmes Sunny Days Paper Pad and Maggie Holmes Flourish Papers
- White cardstock or white card bases
- Scissors or a manual or electronic die-cutting machine
- Adhesive
- Optional: Sunny Days Journal Runners
- Optional: envelope punch board to make your own envelopes
As you can see, this is a fun craft you can make with supplies you have at home. You really don’t need a whole lot! I started by selecting seven patterned papers in rainbow colors and then used a die set and my manual die cutting machine to cut out the rainbows.
If you don’t have a rainbow die, you could use your electronic die cutting machine or even just sketch out the rainbows by hand and use your scissors to cut them out! Those wonky rainbows are super trendy right now – so no need for perfection! 🙂
How to make colorful handmade rainbow cards:
- First, you will cut out all the rainbow pieces. I cut a full rainbow from each patterned paper and then put together five colorful rainbows. This makes the card making process easy! You can make multiple cards in little time!
- Next, add them to your white card bases with foam adhesive. This adds some dimension. I used 5″x5″ card bases.
- Third for a touch of something extra, I added a gold glitter heart sticker from the Willow Lane Thickers to each card.
- The next step is optional. You can add a sentiment with stamps or alphabet stickers. I used one of the journal runners from the Sunny Days collection to add some text to each card. Sunny Days Journal Runners
- Finally, I used my envelope punch board and the left over pieces of patterned paper to make my own color-coordinated envelopes for these cards. Here is a great blog post for information about the envelope punch board and how to use it.
