Cute Colorful Birthday Scrapbook Page

Hi crafty friends, it’s Ulli here with a cute colorful birthday scrapbook page idea! Also this is a bonus scrapbook idea showing you how to use up your paper scraps. I used one of my favorite Maggie Holmes collections ever: the fantastic and super cute previous Carousel collection. This is an easy scrapbook page to make, and also super cute! Read below for all the directions to make this cute birthday scrapbook layout! 

Scrapbooking with Large Photos:

This page is a great example of how to scrapbook with large photos!

• I used a big picture in portrait format and cut it a little bit smaller.
• Next I cut a wide paper stripe from the wonderful Cotton Candy Paper and glued it on the right side of my 12×12 page.

How to Make Die Cut Paper Numbers:

Next on my birthday scrapbook page I wanted to add a whole bunch of numbers around the photo. I used numbers 1-5 because this was the 5th birthday of our daughter.

• First use number die to punch out a bunch of numbers 1-5. (Here’s a variety of alphabet and number dies to choose from.)
• Use those paper scraps! For the numbers, I used paper scraps from the Cotton Candy Paper, the Uplifting paper and the Kaleidoscope paper and I used both sides of them to have 6 different designs.
• Next I also punched numbers from white cardstock. I made more white numbers than colorful so that page was a little softer and not too busy.

How to Complete this Cute Colorful Birthday Scrapbook Page:

• First I glued some of the big die cut numbers on the right side between the picture and all over the white space. I used a normal liquid glue for them.
• Later on I added many more numbers and used 3 D foam dots behind them to add dimension.
• Work slowly and use your instinct to complete the rest. I added them little by little until I had the feeling I had a good dispersion and enough numbers on my page.
• Scrapbook Tip: Notice how I also glued some numbers on the borders and cut the parts that were hanging off. This makes the numbers flow all the way out off the page.

 

Finishing Touches for your Scrapbook Birthday Page:

• Add a title: I used a number metal die with my die cut machine to cut out a gold glitter 5. I used the gold glitter cardstock from the Sunny Days Project Pad. Do you know about the Maggie Holmes project pads?  They have many 12×12 patterned papers, some stickers and some solid and glitter cardstock in matching colors all together in one pad. They are so amazing! If they are sold out, you can also use this gold glitter paper here.
• As a secondary title I also added the banner sticker from the Carousel collection that says “Oh Happy Day”.

• Finally I added some numbers on the right side too and glued a label sticker with the date on the border of the picture.
• Additionally I decorated the page with some more little stickers and puffy stickers here and there.
