Today, design team member Jessy is showing us how to paint colorful stripes on paper. Read on for all the details to make this cute scrapbook layout!
Hello friends! It’s Jessy here to share this scrapbook layout that I had so much fun creating. I absolutely love using Maggie Holmes’ new acrylic paints! I have so many fun ideas and today I’m showing you how to create a striped painted background for your scrapbook layout. Painting stripes on paper is really easy if you follow my steps below.
How to Paint Colorful Stripes on Paper:
- I used a recycled gift card to spread the paint on my paper. To do that you will start by squirting a little paint across the gift card. The amount of the paint will also determine how wide you want your stripes to be.
- Then I slowly spread the paint by applying pressure to the card against the cardstock and pulled across.
- Keep alternating the colors until your background is filled with paint, from top to bottom.
- I also added some gold paint to create the subtle contrast in between the colors.
Once the paints were all dried, I stitched all around the border of my layout. I wanted to create a frame and at the same time add more interest & texture to my layout. Next, I positioned the photo in the middle and continued with embellishments all around. These embellishments are carefully chosen to match the overall look I was going for. 
Using various stickers and embellishments will further enhance the texture on the layout. Layering embellishments is definitely one of my favorite things to do! I just love that pink crepe paper under the photo, really pretty!
I also love adding paper doilies to my scrapbooking and crafting projects. These doilies are a subtle element and look so pretty without overwhelming the whole layout.
