Kathleen here on the Maggie Holmes Blog and I have another new scrapbook idea to share with you. I also want to share my
tips for finding inspiration for scrapbooking! Do you ever have those times when you really want to scrap something but your creative juices just aren’t flowing? That’s how I felt when I made this layout. I had zero ideas where to start, so I decided to challenge myself.

Tips for Finding Inspiration when Scrapbooking:
- Use your leftover supplies – I had a few leftover bits and pieces from previous Maggie Holmes collections on my desk (Flourish, Willow Lane and Sunny Days) and thought I’d see what I could come up with only using (some of) those items.
- Give yourself a challenge – Sometimes the best creativity comes when you give it a nudge with a challenge. For example I challenged myself to use those leftovers.
- Other creative scrapbook challenge ideas – Here are a few more ways you can challenge yourself and spark your creativity. Use a specific color scheme. Use only a few certain products. Try a new technique.
How to Make this Bright Fun Summertime Scrapbook Page:
- First I grabbed the label pieces and started arranging them in a vertical line on my 8.5×11 piece of white cardstock.
- Next, I brought in the fussy cut leaves I had left over from previous projects, as well as the two butterflies.
- It was a happy coincidence that the butterflies matched the colors of the labels! And since they matched, I decided to keep this tone on tone theme for the other labels too. Easy Scrapbook Tip – To make things easy, you can try this tone on tone embellishing as well!
- On the black one I added the “Sunshine” sticker as my title. On the yellow one I adhered a label sticker from the Sunny Days clear stickers.
- Another supply I had was the Willow Lane alphabet Thickers I found an “I” and “U” and added a gold glitter heart sticker in between them to spell out I ♥ U.
- For my photo I chose one of my husband and our dog and sized it to fit right in between the peach and black labels.
- As a finishing touch I added my journaling and also some machine stitching. This simply adds some texture to the layout and gives it a little more interest.
