Brian’s father passed away early Friday morning.

Brian’s father passed away early Friday morning. It’s hard to summarize what he means to each of us and the impact he had on our lives. As I pour through photos and memories are recalled, I see a legacy of love and tenderness in the way he connected with us and each of our children on an individual level. They say the way to a mother’s heart is through her children and I surely did and still do feel his love for me because of the way he deeply loved and cared for our children.

He always made sure to let me know that he was on my side cheering me on and that he believed in me. His trust and confidence has always given me strength in my roles as a wife, mother and daughter of God.

He leaves a lasting and powerful witness of the Savior and the Plan of Salvation, which he taught to all, until his very last moment by word and by example. He never missed an opportunity to speak quietly, yet powerfully, with us and our kids about the most important things in life - character, work ethic, missionary work, ministering to others, keeping the commandments and staying on the covenant path.

Heaven feels especially close right now as we have experienced and witnessed so many miracles and tender mercies surrounding his passing. We are grateful that his love and legacy live on and for the knowledge that we will see him again.

Had to wait a while for these beauties to be done but they were well worth the wait!

I got the original chairs for basically pennies and then had them reupholstered in one of my all time favorite fabrics and redesigned the shape at the same time. I need to show you the before… it’s quite the transformation!

Still working on some things in this space… I don’t love these lamps in here… but I’m working on sharing more of the process as it evolves over time because that’s what most of you requested!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope it was magical and full of light!
Henry said this year on Christmas Eve “it doesn’t really feel like Christmas… it’s just not the same without Nate here.”
And I agreed… it’s definitely not the same without everyone here together.
For the past 4 Christmas’s we’ve had 1 or 2 of the boys gone serving their missions and this year Nathan is in Argentina. And we do miss him A LOT!
However it also feels a little extra special to celebrate the season while he is out there with the sole purpose of teaching others about our Savior… the real reason for the season in the first place.
Here’s a little snippet from Nate’s email on Christmas Day:
“It has been awesome to be a missionary at this time of year and be able to represent the Savior, who we are all celebrating! We have been able to share some Christmas messages with our friends and I have felt the special Spirit of this time of year, and the message of the birth of Christ!
I have had a lot of different things I've been thinking about this Christmas, but I wanted to share something about Christ's title as the "Light of the World." He is the Light that shineth in darkness. His teachings bring light to our lives. His perfect example lights the way back home to our Father in Heaven. His eternal truth enlightens our minds with understanding of His Gospel! He truly is the Light of the World! Seek His Light!”

Swipe through for the sweetest and best wrapped gift that stole my heart this year.
He shopped on Amazon for a puzzle for me and then told me I couldn’t look at my Amazon until after Christmas.
Then he wrapped it all by himself and did his very best cursive to spell my name. Later I found the scraps of wrapping paper where he had been practicing writing and I saved one to keep forever.
I love beautiful wrapping paper and ribbon and pretty bows, but this year, the most beautiful one came from a sweet 9 year old and a sharpie!

It’s bow making season! Who is adding ribbon bows to their tree this year? Last year I added some and this year I’m adding more! And who knows, maybe next year I will do a tree with nothing but bows! They are so easy to make too!
