December Memories Mini Album

Hi friends! If you’ve been in the scrapbooking world for any time at all, you’ve probably heard of the December Daily mini album concept or something similar where you document and scrapbook a memory for each day in December. In years past, I’ve created December Daily albums and also taught classes with this concept of capturing all of your holiday memories during December. I taught two different December Daily Photography Workshops here on my site and I also taught the 25 Days class at Studio Calico two years. In fact, you can still take those December Daily workshops at Big Picture Classes and get lots of ideas for creating this type of mini album!

This year I’m jumping back in with a December Memories mini album, but I’m doing it slightly different this time around. I’m calling it my Happy Little December Moments album and I’m super excited about it already!!
Previously I’ve numbered my pages ahead of time and planned to record at least one memory per day. There’s nothing wrong with this approach, but this year I’m leaving the numbers off and allowing myself room for flexibility. I might end up with one page for each day, or I might have enough to create 2-3 pages for one day and none for the next… I’m simply going at it with a less rigid expectation for myself than I have in years past.

I’ve already created all of my base pages, which is one of the main keys to success when creating an album like this during the busy holiday season. I’ve mainly used the new Crate Paper Merry Days collection because it is my most favorite Christmas scrapbooking collection ever! It’s seriously so SO cute!! From there I’ve mixed in a few other random things and I’ve also pulled out the FaLaLa Crate Paper collection because it matches really well and will be cute to embellish some of the pages with.I went with a basic 6×6 size for my pages and then I’m also adding in some smaller tags, envelopes, etc in between. I like to mix in fun ephemera pieces like this to add some variation in the sizes and to keep things fun and interesting! For those ephemera things, remember that you don’t have to use only holiday themed products! I’m using tags, tickets, labels and all kinds of little pieces from my collections and also from things I’ve gathered over the years.

I kept the page bases mostly pretty simple, only adding a few embellishments to some of them. When I finish each page, I will add the memories – including photo(s) and journaling – and then I will add extra stickers and embellishments as I go. What’s great is that the bulk of the work is now already done and the rest is fun and fairly simple!I’ll be sharing updates of my album as I complete it and images of each page so you can follow along! Lots of times I end up finishing my December album in January after the busy holiday season is over, so don’t be surprised if I don’t share the whole thing this month! I love to work on it when I have time during the season, but often times I just make sure to focus on taking pictures and jotting down some memories and then I go back and add it all in later on.
