Valentine’s Day Pocket Pages

Hi there! I have another project for you today using my FREE Valentine’s Day printables and clip art images!

I am a BIG fan of using pocket pages in my traditional albums. I just mix them right in amongst the regular 12×12 pages. I also mix in 8.5×11 pages here and there too! It fits right in with my eclectic and no-rules style for scrapbooking! This 9 pocket page from We R Memory Keepers is one of my faves. The pockets are wallet size and perfect for filling with photos, journaling/decorative cards and then other small embellishments.

One of the things I love the most about the digital images and printables is that you can size them down or up according to the project that you want to create! For this page I sized them down because the journaling/decorative cards on the printable were a little bit too big for this pocket page protector. I opened the PDF into Photoshop and then sized it down in there. I like to print these on photo paper for a nice rich, saturated look. You can use the print + cut feature on your Silhouette Cameo or simply print and hand cut with scissors.

You’ll notice above that I have two sets of photos, some cards and then two circles. When creating a pocket page I like to do both sides of the page at once if possible. This way you can plan out your elements so that they fit back to back and everything works on both sides.

I also opened the bird vintage postcard and sized it so that it would fit across two of the pockets. This is a fun way to incorporate bigger elements or bigger photos. Simply print it to fit two pockets and then trim it in half. I love the look!

If you have a theme it really makes choosing the embellishments easy! I was going for a LOVE theme on both sides so I simply gathered hearts and other “love” elements from my stash of products. You’ll notice that some of the pockets are filled completely with the cards/photos and others are left more transparent with smaller items floating inside. I love the balance of this and love the see through pockets that peek through to the next page!

These gold hearts are from my Open Book collection embellishment jar. There are a whole bunch of these gold chipboard hearts and wood veneer hearts in the jar! I glued the gold ones back to back before putting them in the pocket so that they would be cute from both sides of the page. Then I sewed the pocket shut with my sewing machine.

To create the floating elements like I did with the punched circles in the top left pocket here you will want two things that match in size. Then you’ll glue them to either side of a transparency or piece of thick acetate. Then slip the card into the pocket! This gives the look that they are floating in the pocket.
