Studio Calico November Kits: Napa Valley

Here it is…. November's main kit is Napa Valley and like I said before it is perfect for your fall photos!!

I am dying over the banner stamp in the Sonoma Add-On. Even though I didn't use it on one of my layouts for the gallery it will definitely be getting used a lot around here! It is sitting in a special spot right on my desk and will stay there for a while! 🙂

First up is "Watching her boys". I took this photo of Emily Jane last year at the pumpkin patch while she was watching her "boys" – Tyler, Matthew, Nathan and Daddy riding the roller coaster. I am in love with this photo and have been hanging onto it for a long time. I have to admit that I didn't LOVe the completed layout but in the end decided that I wasn't up to taking it apart and redoing it! As per usual I was wanting to incorporate more PINK since her outfit has pink and I wanted to tie it in. So I used some white American Crafts cardstock and then went to town with my Maya Mists until I got the color of pink I wanted. I layered 4 different pinks: Salmon Metallic, Pink Grapefruit, Bubblegum Metallic and Strawberry Metallic. I also used the stamp from the En Plain Air Add-On kit (from last month) and surprisingly it is still available so if you haven't snatched it up yet, now is your chance. This stamp is a great one! Used my American Crafts Slick Writer in Fine tip for all the doodling and journaling. That pen is a staple in my studio!!

Next up is "Nathan's Pick". I tried a fun new technique to create the sun rays on this layout. All you do is apply an adhesive runner onto the page where you want the sun rays to be and then sprinkle glitter onto the adhesive. Use your finger to press it down to make sure it sticks well and then shake off the excess! Super easy and fun!! Loved the blue polka dot Waterfront Park patterned paper from American Crafts that is in Add-On 1. I used it on all three layouts this month! I guess that says it all! I love the scalloped edges around the edge of the paper – perfect to cut out and use as little border or edge strips! The green Stroll Chipboard Alpha from American Crafts was a favorite as well and I used it for my title here. It is in the Monterey add-on. It looks more yellow here but it is actually a great green!! Finally this Studio Calico number stamp set (that I used for the 4) is AWESOME! It matches the alpha stamp set that is it in the main kit! Don't forget to snatch it up before it is gone!!

Finally is "Fall." I kept this one fairly simple. After creating this beautiful background I didn't want to cover it up too much. Again I used cardstock from American Crafts (cream this time) and layered lots of mist! I used Maya Mists in Lemon Metallic, Tangerine Metallic and Cream Metallic and SC Mister Huey's in Sunshine. I cut out the little tiny banner from the Fall Festival Lily Bee patterned paper in Add-On 4 and stitched them on to the page. To create the scalloped borders I used that American Crafts Waterfront Park Paper again and also the SC Peloton Paper from the main kit and the Flea Market Crate Paper from Add-On 4. I used scalloped border punches (no longer available at SC) on the Crate and SC Papers. Then I sprayed them with water and crinkled them up to give them some texture. Dried them with my embossing heat tool to speed up the drying process and then layered them on my page! Super easy!

I wanted to create more but it just didn't happen! I still have more fall photos from last year though so I am going to keep all of these kits in one box for now and hopefully I will get to make some more pages this month. Maybe I will make a mini album with the adorable Maya Road Purse Envelopes in Add-On 4.

Let me know if you have any questions about any of the products or anything I did! Also be sure to check out the rest of the design team gallery! These girls literally amaze me every month!! WOW!

Oh, one more thing I almost forgot:

Be sure to take advantage of this amazing deal and grab that punch you've had your eyes on!! There's some really cute new ones in the shop! I better get my order in too before they are gone! Off to do that now!
