There’s nothing sweeter than welcoming a new baby into this world so I love to make the new mother or mom-to-be feel extra special with handmade cards and gift bags. I’m all about the conveniences of the digital age, but when it comes to things like this, I still believe in the old fashioned practice of making a physical card and writing a handwritten note to the recipient. It’s such a tangible representation of the love and care you have for that someone special!
Today I’m sharing a cute baby card and baby gift bag that I made using the Little You Baby collection from Crate Paper. There are so many adorable papers and embellishments that it makes putting these together really quite quick and easy!
Sometimes a gift card is the best way to go, so the mommy can pick out something that she really loves or needs for her new baby. And instead of using the generic little envelope from the store, I like to create a decorated muslin / cotton bag to put the gift card in.
To create the bag, I gather coordinating papers (you can even use up your scraps here) and cut a few of them into various size strips with the ends notched out like a ribbon. I layer those on first and then add a few other things like tags, stickers, labels and clips. It’s really so easy and you can layer up the embellishments any way you like!
My process for creating cards is very similar, only I used rectangles of paper instead of the strips here. I layered them onto my card base and then added a few of my faves from the baby girl collection. I thought the chipboard bunny sticker looked so cute holding the gold glitter heart! The animal icons in this collection are so sweet!
One more tip I have for you when it comes to cards and gift bags is to make a few at a time. When you already have the supplies out (and the mess made), it’s quite simple to make 3 instead of just 1. Then I keep the extras on hand for when I need one and I’m never in a pinch!
