Scrapbooking with Chalkboard Paint

WOW was my first reaction when I saw this layout by Kim! I am absolutely loving black lately and how it adds such a great pop of contrast to whatever you place it with! I have been adding bits of black and white to my home decor and you will also notice lots of touches of black in the Open Book collection as well. Kim has also used black in such a fabulous way here by painting right on her layout with chalkboard paint. I just LOVE how it makes the other colors in the page really pop and stand out!!

I think one of my very favorite mediums is watercolor and that’s followed closely by chalkboard paint!  It’s definitely a trend that I cannot seem to let go of.  I love the black contrast it creates along with bright colors and fun embellishments. Chalkboard paint shows them off in just the right way and is always great to write on using a white gel pen.

For this page I drew a square in the middle of my page and then drew some leaves inside it. I slowly began to watercolor a very light color around my sketch.  I wanted something really light and I was quite surprised at how it turned out. Then I created a little frame using the chalkboard paint.  Most of the time I’m really unaware at how a page will turn out but I enjoy the process and I just love the surprise in the end when I add layers of other things!

I cut a few leaves from the papers in the Open book collection and also used lots of the roses from the flower pack. I adore all the little roses and flowers…. you have so many fun ones to choose from!

Finally I added a few layers of hand-cut leaves and flower petals and added a little bit of journaling along the framed chalkboard area.  This was a super fun layout to create!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Thursday!
