Hello there! Hope your week is off to a great start so far!! Today we have a lovely DIY gift packaging post for you from design team member, Amanda Rydell! My favorite tip of hers is to look for gift boxes at the thrift store. Not only are the boxes she finds unique and amazing, but they cost even less than purchasing a new gift bag. When you follow her lead and get cute metal boxes or tins to use for your gifts, the packaging also becomes part of the gift because the recipient can then save it and use it as a storage tin! So fabulous!!
Hi Friends, Happy Tuesday! The new SHINE collection has been making its appearance in a lot of recent projects around here. I have been really enjoying all the bright colors and the fun embellishments.
Whenever I am at the thrift store I always keep my eyes open for unique boxes and tins to use for gifting. I love the uniqueness, plus they are usually cheaper than a paper gift bag at Target. Recently I found this really cute metal green box, it was $1. I have had it sitting in my garage waiting for the perfect occasion. My friend’s favorite color is green, plus she loves vintage. It was a perfect fit!
To start decorating my metal box, I began with a white paper tag as the base. I added a little color and pattern to the paper tag by painting a blue diagonal corner from the top to bottom. Once the paint had dried I used my roller stamp from the SHINE collection and added SHINE BRIGHT. I also stamped a row of hearts to finish it off. Next, I gathered a couple different sized cupcake liners and a random cardboard circle I found in with my craft supplies and began layering on top of my tag. Cupcake liners are my go to when I need to add extra layers and textures. Lastly, I added the black and white butterfly on top.
Once my tag was complete I added a gold paper clip and tied a bow using ribbon. I also added a tassel to the paper clip. On top of the green box was a small metal circle which I used to attach the tag.
Using the paper clip I attached the doily, paper tag and a gold letter to the top.
I love creating unique and pretty packages. Adding those extra special touches to a gift can make a package extra special. I hope this project has inspired you to take a trip to the thrift store and hunt for that perfect box!
