Hello! I’m excited to start sharing some details and spaces from our new home here on the blog! Building a home has always been a dream of mine and it’s been such an amazing process… there were a million decisions to make (especially when you are a detail oriented person like I am) and there were times when it felt like a 24 hour job, but it was super rewarding, I learned a TON and I feel beyond blessed and grateful for all of it. Truly.

I’ve learned through the years that happiness doesn’t come from things and I know that I can be happy in any home, anywhere. And sometimes I’m even hesitant to share things like this because I don’t ever want to seem boastful. However I have always had a passion for home decor/design and it’s something I truly love. The process of designing a room, hunting for the perfect pieces, putting it together and then also mixing things up that we already own when I’m ready for a change…. it all fulfills a part of my creative soul.

With that as a bit of an introduction, you can expect to see more interior design posts here on the blog! I’ll be sharing the things/rooms I’m working on in our home and also other designs/spaces/people/products that inspire me!

Today I’m excited to share some details from our living room. I partnered up with Joss & Main and chose some key pieces that I knew would work with the things I already had, but that would breathe fresh new life into the space.

I have a slight obsession for chairs with caning and these caned back chairs are everything to me! I positioned them on this side of the room so the pretty detail can be seen and doesn’t get hidden against a wall. For a very structured chair, they are super comfy and I love the neutral linen fabric against the grey washed wood.

This space is smaller than it looks (thanks to the magic of a wide angle lens) so I wanted a coffee table that wasn’t too visually heavy for the room. Any time you want to keep a room feeling airy and bigger, a translucent, glass or mirrored coffee table works really well!

The x – stool or x – ottoman is a furniture staple that seems to work in any room and I knew they would work perfectly in here. They add extra seating without taking up very much space at all and they also add a little visual pop to the fireplace. They come in just about any color but I went with this elegant wedgewood blue to pick up on the other blue tones in the room but in a more subtle way.

I love how the color of the x stools plays with the blue chairs – doesn’t match exactly but doesn’t compete either. Also my plan is to replace the blue chairs eventually because I’m going for a more neutral look in here, but when that happens I don’t want to lose all of my color. So in thinking ahead I knew the blue x ottomans would be a good choice for me in that regard. I’m searching for the perfect tufted chair to replace those blue ones…. I just haven’t found it yet. I am loving this option though!

In my book lamps and rugs are a must. They are fundamentals of a space that I think are commonly overlooked, yet so very needed to not only ground a room, but pull it all together.

My black floor lamp is also from Joss & main. It adds a bit of weight and contrast next to the all white sofa.

I worked with RugsUSA on this room as well. I’ve been a long time fan of their online shop because it’s hard to beat their prices and sales. Part of me hated to cover up our brand new wood that we had laid in a herringbone pattern, but it had to be done. I sized down slightly from what I might have normally ordered in here so you can still see some of the wood and pattern around the perimeter of the room.

The rug description says the color is grey but in my room it definitely reads a little on the blue/grey side. I don’t mind because I like how it flows with my other blue pieces in the room. I also think it does a good job of giving you a hint of color without overwhelming things.
