But she decided to go with it and use it anyway, and what she ended up with is absolutely stunning! This page is so beautiful and I can’t imagine if she had tossed this background and started over!!
It just goes to show that when you are creating scrapbook pages or any type of art, the “mistakes” or “accidents” often end up to be better than the original ideas we had in our heads! So it’s a reminder to me, to follow the flow of the creative process and work with things even if they don’t go exactly as planned! Save the original idea for later and go with what is happening in front of you! I bet it will turn out simply fabulous like Kim’s page did here!
I love to delve into mixed media more and more these days! It’s one of the most inspiring mediums to me, and you can use mixed media with so many different styles! For this page I might have went just a little overboard and didn’t leave as much white space as I would like. Originally I wanted bit of that lovely rose paper to peek through but used more paint in the end, which made it appear more layered. But, as you know, in mixed media you work with it anyway and it usually ends up better than your original plan!
To finish the layout I added a few watercolor elements and “Flourish” embellishments to frame the page along with a photo of me and my son in Paris. Explore is a big word for me as it has several meanings! You can never do enough exploring in arts or travel! Have a great day!
