We are continuing with the theme of DIY holiday gift wrap today! I don’t know about you but I really can’t get enough of seeing all the pretty packages this time of year! I especially love seeing all the different styles and ways that others decorate their gifts! Kim’s project today is inspiring to me in so many ways! I love her color combo and mixing of copper, gold and silver. I also love the cute glittered trees she made! You really can use things you have on hand and you don’t have to go out and buy brand new gift tags or bows! With a little imagination you can turn regular scrapbooking paper into gorgeous holiday packaging materials!
I remember as a kid I used to love using the comics and newspaper to wrap gifts in. It was just something about using an item that wasn’t meant for that purpose. Even today I love decorating a simple box for gifts. I think I may have stacks of empty boxes just waiting to be decorated somehow. I like to paint them, decoupage and wrap them.
For this project I wanted to use lots of little boxes I’ve collected from different sources. I love going thrifting and I look for empty boxes and containers whenever I go. Just a little gold spray paint and they are all ready to be used; all you need are a few tags and fun things to layer with. The possibilities are really endless with all the different colors in spray paints; they even have chalkboard paint in different colors.
Using the shine collection I hand cut lots of little Christmas trees from different collection papers. I used small strips of blue paint tape and then painted the bottom of each tree in gold and copper colors. It’s a simple little project and doesn’t take very long. When they were just about dry I painted on a layer of watered down glue and sprinkled glitter on the painted areas. It’s a super modern touch I think and adds just the right amount of glitter. I made several of them to use along with tags for my gift toppers. Once they were dry I slowly pulled the tape of to reveal pretty little glittered trees.
You can make such unique little gifts with simple techniques using the shine collection papers and stickers. Add some string or ribbon and your gift is done with your own personal touch! Happy crafting!
