Large Gold Foil Letters for the Win!

I think as crafters, most of us are guilty of holding onto (aka hoarding) our favorite products from time to time because we just can’t seem to use them! It’s a funny thing because when we create scrapbook pages, we will always still have those beautiful supplies to look at in our albums. But there’s just something about tearing into a package and using it all up that instills an urge to save it for later! Can you relate?? Haha!

Well design team member, Jessy, is here to inspire us today to go back through what we have and use up some of those older products that we have been saving onto. She’s even using elements from different collections and combining them to make a beautiful page! Sometimes we also think that we can only use certain products together because they were part of a collection. Well, you can definitely jump outside of that box and mix and match all of your stuff. You will find that tons of things will work just wonderfully with older and newer products that you have!! Just go for it!

Recently, I revisited Maggie Holmes’ older collections – Shine & Bloom. I realized I sure missed these collections. After looking at them again, I thought I should combine them together to work with them in a new way. It’s certainly a good excuse to finish using up older collections in my stash as well. As much I love these collections, I probably shouldn’t hoard them furthermore, but use them to create memories with them. I’m pretty sure we all can relate with the hoarding part. Lol.

Let me share with you my creative process….

In the Shine collection, you’ll find these beautiful 4” tall gold foil alphabets. Mind you, anything gold is my jam! I knew I had to include them on my layout. It took me a while to figure out how I should include these alphabet letters and finally I decided to adhere the word “PRECIOUS” in the middle of my page. It’s a perfect way to showcase this beautiful alphabet!Once I was done with positioning the word precious, I noticed that the gold alpha didn’t stand out much on the polkadot paper, well not as much as I wanted it to. So I took out my gesso and painted over some the black dots, especially those in the middle. I truly loved how subtle it looked when the gesso dried up.

After pasting the alpha down, I adhered some embellishments around the letters C & I. That helped to create a fuller look to my layout.

Tip: To make each letter stand out, use a pencil/pen to trace the outer line of each alpha. That will darken the edge. If you look closely you can see the outline that I added around each letter. Also, can you spot the gold glitter ribbon bow on the headband? That’s from the Open Book collection. I sewed that bow onto a nylon headband & I totally love that my baby girl has a cute & stylish headband to complete her darling attire.

I just couldn’t resist pairing some embellishments from the Gather collection along with Shine. I just simply love the fact that all 3 collections matched together nicely!

Thank you for swinging by! Have a lovely day! xoxo JessyHappy Thursday!
