I’ve been a bad blogger… random updates

Hey there! So I know that I have been a horrible blogger lately! Lots going on so I thought I would share some of the random happenings here in our world…..

:: My adorable friend, Pam, helped me clean out my scrapbook room last week. It was much needed as I had been ignoring it and just dropping things everywhere and anywhere; making piles in every nook and cranny these last few weeks. I had a huge project for Making Memories that I created in between Creative Escape and a trip to Cali and that only added to the chaos! But it is looking good again and as the clutter clears away I find that I can start being creative again, so all is well!

:: I have been going through lots of photos from the summer and 1st day of school to print and use with my October Studio Calico kits. They are all organized and waiting on my scrap table and I am anxious to dive in. The exclusive stamps are amazing for next month so you really need to be on your game and snatch up the add-on kits before they are gone! You can check out the sneak peeks right here. I am also loving the mix tape by American Crafts that shows up in 2 of the kits!! LOVE!

:: Gearing up and getting excited for my photography sessions in Cali and Utah this fall! There are still some openings in all three locations….

Southern California – October 1st and 2nd

Utah – October 15th and 16th

Northern California – November 5th and 6th

…. so if you are interested give me a jingle (email) and we will get it all set! Thanks to my clients for scouting out some awesome new locations for me! I am getting super excited for all three places!

:: Also my fall schedule for Arizona photo shoots is filling up quickly and I can't wait to connect with past clients and meet the new families! This time of year gets crazy busy but I really love meeting up with everyone and seeing how all the kiddos have grown and changed! In addition to the regular shoots, I have some days set aside for mini sessions here in the phoenix valley as well so if you that's more your style we can fit you in! And in case you haven't heard I have brand new pricing for this fall which I think you will love!! Give me a shout and I will share the details!

:: Emily Jane is killing me lately (in a good way) with the hilarious things she says….

Every day when I pick her up from school she says "I call shot gun mom."

The other day when I asked her to get me a diaper and wipes she came back and said "I got a diaper but I can't find the wipes. But don't worry mom, you can just betend (pretend) you have the wipes." seriously! yuck! And btw, yes she is 3+ and isn't potty trained… please don't judge…. I am trying but she wants NOTHING to do with it!

:: The boys have all started soccer and they are loving it! It's Nathan's first time officially playing on a team sport and he is over the moon excited and feeling super big! He got his uniform last night and was smiling from ear to ear! He also wants to know if Emily can be a cheerleader for him during his games!

:: Edited this newborn photo shoot that I did recently. He was a little bit older and I was nervous he would cooperate but he did really great! He was awake the entire time which is different than most newborn shoots I do, but man his eyes are beautiful so it worked out perfectly! I LOVE doing newborn shoots in an outdoor setting like this.

Hunsaker Sept 2010-40

On a side note I have never laughed so hard or had so much fun on a newborn photo shoot before! Who knew that this tiny little guy could be so funny and entertaining without even knowing it! Thanks for a great time Michell and baby! Enjoy!

:: And finally a question for all of you stampers and scrapbookers out there. If you have a great solution for storing your clear stamps, please share! I have tried a few different things and none of them have worked very well for me. I am looking to change it up and mainly need them to be easy to access and browse through so that I will use them more!! Help!

    Hi Maggie!
My newest solution for storing clear stamps is to stick them in the slots of vertical hanging shoe organizers that you attach to a closet rod. I found mine at Target for less than 10 dollars and it has just enough slats for me to organize my stamps based on manufacturer. It’s great to be able to go to the closet in my craft room, dig through my collection easily, and then shut the door and make everything look nice and neat! Oh, and I leave all my clear stamps in their original packaging, mainly because the holders they come in are perfect containers.
    Hope this helps! 🙂

    hi 😀
i like to keep my stamps (well, the clear acrylic ones) in clear cd cases, this way i can store them like i would my cds. i only have a couple wooden stamps, and those i keep in an old cigar box.
i wish you’d come out to new york and take pictures of my family and i – your photos are fantastic and oh so beautiful! you should really consider coming to the east coast! 😉

I store mine in a binder with different sized page protectors. My favs the baseball card holders for the smaller individual stamps. You can flip right through the binder & select the one you want. Beautiful baby shots BTW!

I do the same thing with the binder and the baseball card storage. I got the idea from my friend Michelle Lanning, here: http://noelmignontandt.blogspot.com/2008/12/mini-stamp-storage.html
    Love it! Hope this helps!

I’m a binder girl, too. Jen McGuire put a great tip on her blog about these page protectors that are 5×7 size, they work great for stamp sheets. I think some people are going for clip it ups if htey have a lot of stamps, but I dont so this works pretty well for me.
    Have a good weekend!

We’re expecting our first son in February – these photos made me tear up!! ADORABLE.
I store my clear stamps on acetate transparency pages that I picked up at Office Depot. I three hole punch them and put them into big binders. Each binder has a different manufacturer – Making Memories, A Muse, etc. Works great for me and it’s easy to page through them. I stamp the images on copy paper and put it in front of each page.

All of my clear stamps are in cd cases. I label them with the manufacturer and name on the side with a label maker and organize them by manufacturer and then “season” or “style”. I store the cases in an old book case in the closet. I even took the rubber of my wood stamps to store that way prior to making the full swap to clear stamps. Any wood stamps that I get now that I have to have that won’t be made clear (like Tim Holtz) are on top of the case for easy access. Although, I don’t have a ton of red rubber anymore.

Ok, here’s a different idea for storing clear stamps, if you have a little extra room you need to get your hubby to make this. I saw a pic of it somewhere and now I cant find it, but I’m totally gonna do it. Ok, I’m gonna try my best to explain this. It would be like on of those art drawers I saw at college, where there’s slots about every 2 inches that you put the boards in. You put can lay your stamps on the boards and make it so they slide in and out, make it as big or little as you want. I’d want mine to be about the size of a vanity, with a couple dozen boards. I’d label the outside with a theme or co. Wish I could find that pic, if I find it I’ll let you know. But it looked about the best way to store them in a tight space and where you could easily see them all and choose which one you want.

    Hey Maggie.
I have mine in the Making Memories pages for the clear stamp binder. But then i just have them sitting loose in a binder that i can flip through.
I got this idea from Karen Russell.

I use a variety of storage methods. I use binders for my Technique Tuesday stamps and E-size alphabets from Close To My Heart. I also use CD cases for random stamps (I write the manufacturer and name of the set on the spine using a Sharpie). Yet, as a CTMH consultant, I have well over 100 sets of clear stamps, so binders and CD cases aren’t a space-saving option. Instead, I store mine in the clear envelope they come in and arrange them alphabetically by category in an IKEA closet organizer. The pull out drawer is right at eye level, so I don’t have to get out of my seat while crafting to use the stamps! I know that some people either scan or stamp their images and keep those in a binder to browse through to find what they want. I would like to do that at some point, as well. You can see photos of my storage solutions on my blog at http://createwithamy.blogspot.com/2009/07/im-back.html .

I am going with the CD cases too. One layer of rubber with ez mount fits, though I sometimes have to break off the little tabs that hold a CD’s ‘front cover’ in (with pliers) to get maximum storage but it is worth it. I also label the spines using a label maker. You can get two layers of clear stamps in there. I take the image sheet and tape it to the outer cover so I can quickly see what’s in there from the outside. If a set doesn’t have a sheet, I put in a copy of the paper index sheet (my design team sets has no image sheet). You could also stamp with Staz-on on an acetate sheet or the case itself. Then I store then in boxes made for CDs from IKEA! I forget what they are called, I think it starts with a K, but you get 2 per pack, they are stiff box board but together with finger tightenable screws and come in white, black, orange and some patterns with solid nlack or white lids. If you stand the CDs so the spine sticks up, they are just a hair too tall for the box but the lid is deep enough for it to still fit. It comes with a book plate in the front for labeling! Perfect solution. They are sturdy enough to stack too. I store my rubber by subject and my clear by company (mostly).
Spencer is practically the same age as Emily Jane and he also refuses to hip potty! He will go pee in the morning but no poop! Argh

Me again! My message got so long it started formatting weirdly thus the typo at the end. I was also going to say…
So I totally understand and HATE when people judge. If they are a good friend, I ask if they want to try! At least Spencer is little and still looks 2 so I don’t get any comments from most other people!
Your newborn photos are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them!!

    Maggie,
I use CD’s to store my clear stamps too. Another idea is Zutter’s Acrylic Album that is made for storing clear stamps. I have one that I keep on my desk that I use for all my sentiment stamps.
I also second the request to come east. I would love for you to shoot my family!

I just keep my clear stamps in their original packaging in my filing cabinet (all stamp storage). I have a “supplies” binder divided by category (seasons, baby, shapes, alphas, etc). When I get a new stamp set or punch, I add the image to the correct category with a note about manufacturer and set name(or categories, if it fits more than one). So when I am making a card or LO and want a stamp, I just browse through my binder to find applicable images. I like this strategy as I don’t need to think about what images I have from what manufacturer.

as for stamps…the only ones I have are SC ones and they are stored very smartly in…….a ziploc bag 🙂 brilliant I know. But it works for me.

I love the awake baby pictures…you can just see the little personality oozing out of them! And I am in love with your blue chair…and the bear hat. In LOVE! Also – I swear potty training cannot be forced – especially with girls – because then they use it to punish you for making them do it before they were ready. 🙂

I store all my acrylic stamps in clear cd cases. I also removed all my older stamps from the wooden blocks and coated their backs with Aleene’s Tack-It Over & Over glue. I store them in clear cd cases as well.
I put a number code on each cd case. I store them in numeric order.
I made a photo copy of every set and put the number code on the page. I put all the photo copies in a page protector in a binder sorted by category (alphabet, greetings, seasons, etc.).
This way I just look through the binder to find what stamp I want to use and then go right to cd case with that number and pull it out.
When I get a new set I do the same – photo copy it, give it the next available number, “file” the cd case and put the photo copy in a page protector in the correct category in my binder.
It is easier to browse through the binder and find what I want. It also makes “re-filing” the stamps very easy.
I set this up during this past winters’ snow storms and I love how easy it has made my stamping life.

I guess I am pretty old school and very tactile. I usually have to touch the stamps as I am workign out my ideas. So I use clear plastic containers/bins and file the pages behind one another (hope that makes sense). I have one for flowers, one for embellishments, one for holidays, one for words, etc. I just grab the plastic bin for the one I am looking for. I mix the manufacturers unless I have a very special set. I use the same method for my rubber stamps and put those into big glass cookie jars. That way I can see them.

I love… love… love the little one shoot! I would love to book a shoot for Northern CA for an infant/family shoot… but because I am due on the Oct 30, there are no guarantee that he will be here. Ugh! I guess I’ll just have to apply all that I am learning in our online class right now 🙂

Love the newborn pics and my 3 1/2 going on 4 is not potty trained either. We have been working at it for months. Eventually the peer pressure in pre-school will get to him and I won’t be changing diapers when he is a teenager, LOL.
The only stamps I use all the time are the few sets I have stored in a little crate that I can flip through. I saw that Jen Mcguire stores hers on the Rene Clip It Up stands so that she can flip through them easily. I just ordered some and I am going to try it out to see if I like that method.
I have tried both the CD cases and the binder for storing my acrylic stamps. The binder, or three, (I have tons of stamps) is nice and doesn’t take up a lot of space, but I find myself going to the same ones all the time and not really looking through my very organized (by theme or type) binder. The CD cases were a pain to find what I was looking for when I had to flip through them. Even though I sorted them in small crates by category and type.
Good luck with your new method, maybe you’ll share what you end up doing to help out the rest of us stamp storage challenged folks.

    1. I store my clear stamps in CD cases and then in open sided CD storage “boxes” that I bought at Bed, BAth & Beyond.
    2. Don’t worry about Emily Jane. She will be potty trained when she is ready. My oldest has autism so he was 5 when he was finally trained, but I learned from him not to judge as others (as I’ve frequently been judged on my parenting based on his behaviors) and that kids will go potty when they are ready. My daughter (not autistic) wasn’t trained until she was 3. I talked to her about going potty and then told her to let me know when she was ready to try. She did and that was that. No gnashing of teeth, no bribing, or any other tips from parents on getting them to go – just let her so it when she was ready. She’ll be fine!

I really believe that a property foreclosure can have a significant effect on the applicant’s life. House foreclosures can have a Seven to a decade negative affect on a applicant’s credit report. Any borrower who’s applied for a home loan or almost any loans for example, knows that the actual worse credit rating is usually, the more challenging it is to obtain a decent mortgage loan. In addition, it may affect the borrower’s capability to find a quality place to lease or hire, if that gets the alternative property solution. Interesting blog post.

The health insurance agent is given a list of benefits needed by individuals or a group coordinator. What any broker does indeed is hunt for individuals or maybe coordinators which usually best go with those needs.
