Hi! You know one thing I really really love? Helping people who don’t scrapbook or who say they would never be able to get into scrapbooking, actually fall in LOVE with it and become scrapbookers or memory keepers or photo journalists or whatever you like to call it! And it’s not because I like to prove anyone wrong… It’s simply because I love seeing them find a new passion and a new creative outlet that they thought didn’t exist for them. I also love seeing them catch the vision of how rewarding and awesome it is to document and record our photos and memories!

Scrapbooking is a visual way of leaving your legacy and preserving the memories and moments you love and the things that are meaningful to you right now  — for future generations and for you to look back on in the future as those memories become blurry and the details of your favorite moments fade away. Even my children say they remember different experiences or times when they were really really little and they talk about them as if they really do remember them…. but in all reality the reason they have those memories is because I’ve scrapbooked them and they’ve looked back at their albums and they’ve seen those photos and read the words that I recorded. It brought those experiences and times to life for them and somehow makes it into a tangible memory for them and I absolutely LOVE that!! It connects them to their childhood in a new way that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

So yeah, I think it’s pretty great when people are newly converted to this art of scrapbooking, for all of these reasons! Amanda is one of those people…. I asked her to be on my design team for her crafting talents and her ability to create beautiful packaging, party decor and all of that… but then she caught the bug of scrapbooking and with a little nudging from me, she decided to give it a try! And then, as she shares in her post below, she found she truly loved it and she’s also pretty amazing at it too!! So awesome!!

Happy Tuesday friends!!!! Did you all have a fun weekend celebrating pre- Halloween??? I am not too big into the holiday, crazy right!!! Over the weekend I printed some photos from the last weekend’s Be Crafty workshop with my new polaroid printer

After I printed a bunch of photos… I mean once you start it’s hard to stop, I did some paper crafting with Maggie Holmes new Gather paper collection.

It’s been awhile since I have shared a page layout so I thought I would share a little of what I am working on. Over the last couple of years I have learned I do much better when I start out with a small sized paper as my base rather then a full 12×12. I started my page layout by cutting my paper to fit inside my binder which is 8×6.5 . I gathered a few papers and embellishments from the Gather collection and began layering them together.

One of my favorite techniques to use is my sewing machine to combine papers together. I love the texture the sewing thread adds to my page.

gatherpage2This page was so fun to create and I just love all the bright bold colors used in the Gather collection .

gatherpage3If you have been nervous to try creating page layouts, I am here to tell you to give it a try. I wasn’t sure I could do it in the beginning and now I love creating them. Sometimes it just takes a little time to find what works best for you!!!!

Happy Tuesday!
