One thing I am guilty of lately is not getting my “big” camera, or my DSLR, out often enough. It is so easy to take pictures with my phone and it is always with me, which is a FABULOUS thing for sure!! BUT, there is just no match to the quality of images you can get from using a real camera! I think that many of us find ourselves in this same situation… relying on our phone cameras but wishing we would get out our “big” cameras a little more often.
Recently I was taking some product shots for a friend and my girls were the “models.” It was a quick session that we did near my house just a little while before the sun was about to set. After I took the product images, I seized the opportunity (and the few minutes of sunlight I had left) to take a few current pictures of both Emily and Lizzy.
You really can capture their personalities in just a few minutes and I am absolutely treasuring these photos!
People often ask me how I am able to capture the natural smiles and personalities of my children and clients and I think my biggest tip is to be comfortable behind your camera. What does that mean exactly? Well, I believe that if you know how to use your camera, so that you aren’t busy and frustrated worrying about the appropriate settings and all the technical stuff, then you are in a position to really connect with your subjects and help them relax and be themselves. And then in turn, you are able to capture the magic!!
I especially love this one where Lizzy Kate is looking up at her big sister Emily. She just adores and looks up to her in every sense of the phrase!!
This “little” one is growing up right before our eyes and these photos really brought that to life for me! I can’t believe how big she looks!
Also loving these photos of the two of them together!
This one is sooooo exactly Lizzy – with her little poses that she does!! I LOVE it!
Now I just have to decide which ones to print big to hang in our home! And I will also be creating some scrapbook pages and a mini album with the photos too!!
