Stephanie is always doing such fun things with her kids and today’s post is no exception! She put together a fun and cute little Valentine’s party for her kids which included treats, cute decor and of course making Valentine’s cards!! I love how she used the banner kit from my Open Book Collection to make this darling Valentine’s Day Banner! So cute!!
As soon as that calendar flips to February, I start dreaming of everything pink, red and gold! Am I the only one?? I just love February, but I especially love anything related to Valentine’s Day!! My kids have been dying to make Valentine’s for their friends since the beginning of January, so this week, I decided to surprise them with a Valentine making party. It was such a blast!
When I started thinking about surprising my kids with a little “party”, I immediately thought about the awesome banner kit from the Open Book collection! These banners are just plain rad. I used the “Happy” banner as a photo prop for a New Year’s Day photo with my kids and it turned out so cute! And I just knew the “Love” banner would be perfect for a Valentine’s party!
I used mini clothespins (similar to the gold ones from this embellishment jar set) to hold the letters in place and then added a few floral die cuts on either side of the word “love”.
I wanted to include a few photos of my kids on the banner, so I decided to create a second banner using a few of the glittered flags and white doilies from the banner kit. I also clipped on several different Open Book tags, vellum flowers and cards to add more layers and color to the banner. I love the way the two banners look stacked together!
Once everything was set, I invited my sweet kids in for a little party. They were so excited to see the banner and all the extras scattered on the table. My daughter (the crafter at heart) was in heaven, and my son (the sweet-a-holic) would have sat and eaten the cookies all day long!
On the table, I sat out paper hearts that I punched from a few of the Open Book patterned papers, floral die cuts, white card stock, markers and glue sticks. You can really use any of your supplies here!! I always like to just flip through my papers and embellishments and find what will work with my theme. It’s fun to look at your products in a new light and I promise you will be surprised at all of the possibilities!! I found the Open Book collection to be so versatile and so perfect for the Valentine theme!
And what’s a party without treats, right??? I didn’t have much on hand, so I just raided our pantry and pulled out the only cookies I had (which happened to be gingerbread, but no one complained)!
My kiddos had so much fun nibbling on the goodies and making sweet cards for their classmates and teachers! My daughter was especially fond of the glittered hearts and the decorative pins!!
When my kids were all finished making their Valentine’s, I convinced them to do a fun little photo shoot in front of the banner. I think the banner makes for the sweetest little backdrop and I seriously can’t pass up an opportunity to take pictures of them together. They just love to be silly!!
