Cute Sunny Days Travelers Notebook Ideas

Cute Sunny Days Travelers Notebook:

Hi everyone, Ulli here! I’m so excited about the collaboration with Crate Paper and JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores. Two magical collections from Maggie Holmes are available now in JOANN stores (Sunny Days and Flourish). I’m loving the fantastic new Project Pad with many patterned papers, matching solid cardstock, glitter and speciality papers and a big sticker sheet.

When I saw the new Maggie Holmes Sunny Days collection I wanted to do a cute travelers notebook with these summery papers and embellishments. As you know Crate Paper has a Travelers Notebook line called Journaling Studio and I have the wonderful polka dot cover. So I started a new project – a  travelers notebook with photos from a dream vacation we took in 2012 at the Maldives.I love working with the small travelers notebook format, but in the past I haven’t been so happy with my end result. It’s because I love to add lots of layering, but in travelers notebooks it’s gets too bulky. So to solve that problem, I decided to keep my notebook simple and without much dimension. I didn’t use foam dots, chipboard stickers and buttons or other very thick embellishments. I kept the focus mainly on the picture and the stories.

To make my notebook I’ve used only the following products (all linked at the end of this post):

• Sunny Days Sticker Sheet

• Sunny Days gold metal clips

The embellishments listed above are the best kind of products to use for a travelers notebook! I used the new Sunny days gold Metal clips to keep apart the pages while working on traveler notebook pages. They are the best clips for holding your travelers notebook open!

Why Travelers Notebooks are so popular:

• Travelers Notebooks are perfect for beginners in Scrapbooking because the size of the pages are smaller. If you are new in this hobby, it is a great start to make your first memory keeping projects.
• You don’t need as many supplies and embellishments for travelers notebooks. As I said above, you want to use mainly flat items like papers and stickers.
• They can travel with you, hence the name travelers notebooks! You can literally take them with you on your vacation and add your notes, photos and journaling in as you go! (If you like this idea, Maggie suggests this portable instant printer for printing your vacation photos on the go. Another option is to take an instant film camera like this one that Maggie uses.)
• Even those that are seasoned scrapbookers love to make travelers notebooks! They are a great format for everyone!

How to Get Started with Travelers Notebooks:

• Cute travelers notebook sketches: If you are not sure how to begin with a traveler’s notebook spread it’s always great to look through some travelers notebook sketches. I love to look at Pinterest for some inspiration when I need it. But you can find sketches on IG too.
• Gather cute travelers notebook ideas from others: Maybe you love a project from another scrapbooker and you can scraplift it. Find ideas like the ones I’m sharing today and you can use the designs as “sketches” to get you started. Simply place your own photos and embellishments in the similar spots on your pages.

How to Make your Cute Travelers Notebook: 

For my first layout I used a big upright photo and glued it on the left side. I used the pink “Sunkissed” sticker as my title and fussy cut some of these cute peaches from the smaller 6×8 paper pack. (How to Fussy Cut: check out this blog post for details.) Then I decorated the photo with them and glued one of the new clear stickers on my photo.For the right side I used the Sunny Days ephemera piece with the phrase “When you stop and look around, life is pretty amazing” and glued it on this page. I decorated it above and below with some of the stickers from the project pad and the accent stickers.To finish off this layout I glued three clear sticker phrases on the bottom. I only used the colors orange, yellow and pink with a little bit of blue for my color palette. I chose them because they are perfect for this beach photo at sunrise on the wonderful island Rashdoo Atoll at the Maldives. Finally I stamped some little hearts on this page. I was so happy with the simple and clean look, so I made a second page.For my second layout I used a photo from the same photo series in landscape format. I cut it in two pieces and glued it on the top of my two pages.I added my title “Love these summer days” with a clear sticker on the right side of my photo. Also, I added some stickers and an ephemera piece and stamped some lines on the right page. Then I wrote my journaling by hand on these lines. I am a very accurate person and love to have lines to write on, but everybody is different. You can also write your journaling free hand if you like.On the left corner I added some eye catching designs. To make this area I added the pretty yellow flower, some cute phrase clear stickers and a sandals sticker on my page. I adore the clean and simple look of it. Finally I finished off my travelers notebook layout with some little heart stamps and the little peach from the clear sticker sheet.I hope you had fun reading my blog post about how to make cute travelers notebooks!
