I am so excited to be joining in on a Christmas wrapping blog hop with some of my most favorite gals in the handmade/DIY industry >> Amanda Rydell of Be Crafty Workshops, Ashely Campbell of Under the Sycamore, and Shop Sweet Lulu my fave party supply shop! You know I’m a big fan of using your supplies in multiple ways… whether you use your scrapbooking supplies to create pretty packaging or your sewing supplies for scrapbooking and card making… it’s just fabulous to be able to use the products we all love and have for lots of different things!
Christmas time is definitely an occasion when I like to spend a little more time dressing up my packages and making them extra special! And when you have everything on hand already, it definitely makes it quick and easy.
If you want to stock up so that you are ready to create your own cute DIY packages any time, here are my go to supplies >> white doilies and gold doilies in a variety of sizes, kraft bags, glassine bags and envelopes, twine – black and white is a staple but I love all the colors, tickets, tassels, muslin bags, sequins and then trims – ribbon, lace, pom pom ribbon, glitter ribbon.
When choosing gifts for my crafty friends I love to include things that I know they would use for their projects! The list is very similar to the above and typically includes tickets, doilies, bags etc. I like to pick out something as the main gift – like the cute festive pouch and notebook I have here, and then I will add in those little extras to personalize it and make the gifts very fun and usable for them.
Once I gathered all of my gifts together, I used a large muslin bag as my package. Next I ruffled a strip of mint green cotton fabric with my sewing machine to wrap around the bag. When wrapping the package I layered doilies, the ruffled fabric and some lace and pom pom trim.
After I had all of that in place I layered more things on the front to make it Christmasy and to dress it up, including some tassels and this darling wood veneer snowflake that I got in the Target dollar section!
To finish it off I added a red tag that I stamped with the phrase “shine bright” and some hearts using the phrase stamps from my scrapbooking product lines.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this inspiration for making your Christmas packages pretty this season! It is something that I definitely enjoy about the holidays each year!!
