Black is such a popular “color” lately… it’s always been a classic and a staple but it seems that it is trending more recently, especially with the chalkboard paint craze and the black and white buffalo check pattern that is so popular right now! However, even with it being such a common color, most people don’t use it in large amounts on their scrapbook pages (except for Halloween when you see quite a bit of it.) I love that Kim isn’t afraid to use the unexpected on her projects and here she has used black in a BIG BOLD way! It really sets the stage for all of the white and her lighter colors to pop!! It’s also a fun way to try the chalkboard look on your layouts!! So cool! Thanks for the inspiration Kim!
Here in Florida fall is slow to end and winter always creeps in late. I’m still inspired by the season and love doing fall layouts. It’s the season where everything is changing, becoming slower and more calm. I think I adore everything about fall except for the short daylight hours. I miss my afternoon sun! For this page I used a lot of pretty watercolors and stamped leaves. They’re just so fun to make. For a few of my leaves I used an old floral stamp to fill them with and then colored them in with a light wash of paint.
My background is chalk paint. One of my favorites to use! So simple but the contrast just draws your eye in. The plus is you get to use a white pen to journal with!
In my journaling I talk about how so many things are changing. My son is getting so big I can barely keep up with his shoe size! I just want time to stop right where it is! How nice would that be! Not forever but just for a little while. At least I can record these days! That’s what I love about scrapbooking! Have a great day!
