New Collection – CAROUSEL

In Carousel, Crafts, Crate Paper, My Product Line, Scrapbooking

Hi friends!! I am super excited to share with you a peek at my new collection today! It’s called CAROUSEL and I hope you love it as much as I do! The colors are bright and vibrant and perfect for your summertime memories and your happy everyday moments too! Think cotton candy pink, vintage teal and popcorn yellow! The colors really pop and will bring any project to life!!!

I wanted to incorporate a bit of the CAROUSEL theme into this collection and include some fun icons in the artwork… ferris wheels, circus tents, the cute ticket booth, carousel animals and more. I really really LOVE how they turned out and especially because you can use them in so many ways! They are so whimsical and cute and totally work for party decor, scrapbook pages about your kids, birthday cards etc. They fall right in that window of trendy and cute and also totally versatile – not too sophisticated and not too juvenile either. My goal was to be able to use these products for our family memories and also for our little ones too and I am so happy with how it turned out. Depending on which products you choose and how you spin it, CAROUSEL really works for all ages!

Then of course, there are LOTS of everyday icons and fun art that goes with everything – hearts, stars, bows, florals and lots of great staple patterns like stripes, polka dots, marble, scallops, buffalo check, etc. I just LOVE playing up those basics in new and interesting ways and I think you are going to have fun using all of the papers in this collection!

I could talk about it all for hours, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves and not keep you waiting any longer… Here’s a pretty big peek into what CAROUSEL is all about!! We will be sharing lots more photos and full images of all the papers and products in a few weeks, so stay tuned!! Some of these are the artist renderings of the products so you can get a good idea of what they will look like, but I can’t wait for you to see the real things too!! I am SUPER EXCITED about everything and especially the new products like the puffy word stickers, banner shapes, RIBBON!!, the metal enamel shapes!!, and the ribbon bows! I’ve done smaller ribbon bows before, but these are BIG and I think you are going to love the size of them!! So fun! Also, the way the ribbon is packaged… I can’t wait for you to see! It is total happiness for me!!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this little peek and it makes me even more excited to show you everything in real life and in use on some projects! Right now my studio is covered in all the new products and I am having so much fun creating with all of this. We will have lots of fun ideas and inspiration for using everything and I can’t wait to share it all with you!

For now, because I am so excited, we are doing a giveaway of the new products!! Leave a comment here on this post telling me what you are most excited about seeing from the new collection. I will draw a winner at random and announce it on June 21st. Also watch my Instagram for ways to get extra entries!! P.S. For the Love of Books

In Chasing Dreams, Crate Paper, Maggie Holmes Design Team, My Product Line, Scrapbooking

Hello! We have another fabulous scrapbook page from design team member, Jessy, to share with you today! The patterned paper with all of the vintage book covers is one of my favorites from the Chasing Dreams Collection, and so I really love to see how others create with it and what they do with it. It is so inspiring to see how other people take a pattern you love and work it into a project! It definitely gets the ideas flowing! When I first got the paper, I immediately wanted to cut out each individual book, like Jessy did, to use on my layouts. But one thing I didn’t think of was to spread a bit of thinned down white paint or gesso onto the paper first to give a whole new look to the books. Not only does it tone down the colors for when you want something not so bright, but it really adds to the texture of the page as well!I’ve always loved children books and I started collecting them way before I even had my girls. I love the fact that a storybook can attract a child to spend a good amount of time in one sitting to read or listen. In fact, my eldest daughter loves spending time with her books. She even ‘creates’ her own stories based on what she sees in the book. I must say, she has a great imagination!

Not too long ago, I shot this photo of my daughters at their reading corner. And while browsing for products for my layout, I came across this patterned paper called Library. Instantly, I knew they would work well together. The illustrations on the patterned paper are really fun + colorful. On the other hand, my photo has a great amount of colors too. To tone down the patterned paper, I spread some gesso on it to make it have a softer look. Once that was dried, I cut the ‘books’ out and arranged them in descending order. I didn’t really have any design in mind but went with the flow. I really like how it turned out.

To fill the gap, I adhered the photo at the top right and then slowly worked my way around to add more embellishments like the alpha stickers, ephemera die-cuts, etc. I absolutely adore that cute puffy gold heartcute puffy gold heart, it sure gave great dimension to my layout. Finally, by adding the black foam alpha sticker, it instantly gave a contrasting look to my layout. Thank you for letting me share again! Have a great week! xoxo JessyHappy Tuesday!

Dreams are for Chasing

In Chasing Dreams, Crate Paper, Maggie Holmes Design Team, My Product Line, Paint, Scrapbooking, Watercolor

Wow is all I have to say today about this beautiful layout from design team member, Kim!! It’s so pretty! The girls are all definitely inspiring me lately with how they’re using the new Chasing Dreams collection!! If you look closely, you’ll see how Kim mixed in some flower die cuts from Open Book as well! If you ever find yourself in a creative rut when making a scrapbook page, just start layering flowers and leaves together! It seriously works every time because clusters of paper flowers are like beautiful gardens…. you can mix and match so many different blooms together and it looks amazing no matter what!!One of my favorite things is a bouquet of flowers! I try my best to have them around all the time and it’s the subject of my artwork. Why not add layers of pretty cute flowers to your paper pages as well!

I started this page with a few leftover paints using the edge of a gift card. I was just randomly painting bits of color on a new canvas when I thought to try the technique on a scrapbook page. It’s just another way to easily add a little painterly effect to a page. Simple and easy, and then just finish your page from there.

Spring is the perfect time to add all those little bits to your projects. I always have lots of painted flower cuts and things I’ve experimented with in my stash! Try different things and then keep them for later. If you are like me, you’ll always find a way to work them into something along the way!! Have a great week and thanks for letting me share my scrapbook page and tips with you today! Happy Wednesday Friends!

Ruffled Crepe Paper Background

In Chasing Dreams, Crate Paper, Maggie Holmes Design Team, My Product Line, Scrapbooking

I am super excited to share this layout from Jessy today! It is just so pretty! I am not going to lie… anything that has ruffled crepe paper is a winning project in my book! It just adds so much texture and beauty to anything you create! Well, there’s not much more for me to say about Jessy’s gorgeous scrapbook layout, other than you should definitely keep reading for all the details on how to make this beautiful page!!

Recently, I got myself a whole roll of streamers and thought it would be awesome to use it on a project. Without thinking what I should do with them yet, I just started to sew them to create ruffles. I have always enjoyed working with ruffles. They not only look pretty on my project but they do give amazing textures too!

Once I was done with the sewing, I thought it would be fun to create my background with the ruffles. I really love this patterned paper but I wanted it to look subtle. So I spread some gesso on it. I love how airy and light it looked. The ruffles matched perfectly well!Next, I gathered all the pinkish looking ephemera die-cuts and layered them all around the photo. Layering is a fast technique you can try whenever you want to create a fuller look to your project! And by adding white doilies all around the layout it sure gives the classy look that I wanted to achieve.  Adding little pieces like puffy stickers and accent stickers will sure create the extra fun dimensions throughout your project!

To have and to hold my second daughter surely made my dreams came true! She’s such a blessing to our family. She completes us!

I hope you are inspired to create this week! Have a great day! xoxo Jessy Happy Tuesday!

Flower Lover

In Chasing Dreams, Crate Paper, Maggie Holmes Design Team, My Product Line, Paint, Scrapbooking, Tips, Watercolor

These layered fringe butterfly stickers from the Chasing Dreams collection continue to be a favorite of mine and everyone else it seems! I see them popping up on so many of your projects that you post and share on your blogs and on social media… plus, they are a fave among my design team girls as well! I am so very glad you all love them as much as I do!! It is definitely inspiring to see all of the beautiful things you are creating with them! They look lovely by themselves on a card or a page because they already have such great texture, colors and patterns mixed in. But they also look fabulous layered together or with other embellishments as well, especially flowers like Kim has done on her page here. Also read on to find out how to create the awesome painted background as well! I love everything about this page Kim!! Thanks for sharing it with us!!I’m never one to shy away from a little paint so it helps in creating some pretty colorful pages. I pretty much paint everyday so sometimes layering on a little paint on my scrap pages just comes with the territory. I also get to try out a few things.

A lot of times I don’t even use a paint brush. Old gift cards are my favorite tools. You can pretty much put paint on in all sorts of ways. For this page I wanted to keep it springy and use fun oranges and yellows! I painted on a few blocks of color to make a background and then added lots of paper flowers and butterflies. It’s fun to just lay them on, everything goes so well together.

I cut the flower letters from a page I painted and used a lovely floral stencil on. Certain parts are perfect for unique paper cuts. I hope you all are enjoying a crafty spring! Have a great day! Happy Thursday!

Inspired by Blue!

In Chasing Dreams, Crate Paper, Gather, Maggie Holmes Design Team, My Product Line, Scrapbooking

Hi there! Typically I like to use LOTS of different colors when I create my scrapbook pages…. mainly because I love all the colors and can’t help myself! Haha! But, after seeing this (mostly) monochromatic layout by design team member, JessyJessy, I am totally inspired to step outside of the box! I LOVE so much how she pulled all of the blues and created her page with such a strong color focus. And then the little pops of gold and black really stand out as well. Thanks for the inspiration Jessy!Hello again! Today I would like to share with you a layout I created using shades of blue with a hint of brown that I scouted around in Maggie Holmes’ collections –  Chasing Dreams + Gather.  I love the fact that all her collections can work with each other! With the family theme in mind, the shades of blue sure created a warm and cozy feeling to my layout. Well, I have to admit that blue couch in the photo truly inspired me in picking out all the blue shades! Haha

To begin, I picked out as many blue based patterned papers as possible. Once that was done, I tried to match them side by side to see what worked and what didn’t. Then I moved on by cutting and adhering them together. I also added the gold glittered acetate to jazz it up a little. Next, I decided to ‘tone down’ the polkadot paper by applying gesso, with the intention to allow the photo and all the little elements to pop out. Once the gesso dried, I adhered the family photo and also some stickers. The journaling is based on the stickers that I adhered in the middle section of the layout. So yeah, they were carefully selected so they could be linked to the journaling, which is a story of how we built our little family, with God in the center of our relationship. We are truly blessed!

The title “gather” is perfect to represent us in the photo. I just love that!

Thanks for letting me share today! xoxo JessyHappy Tuesday Friends!
