New Collection – CAROUSEL

In Carousel, Crafts, Crate Paper, My Product Line, Scrapbooking

Hi friends!! I am super excited to share with you a peek at my new collection today! It’s called CAROUSEL and I hope you love it as much as I do! The colors are bright and vibrant and perfect for your summertime memories and your happy everyday moments too! Think cotton candy pink, vintage teal and popcorn yellow! The colors really pop and will bring any project to life!!!

I wanted to incorporate a bit of the CAROUSEL theme into this collection and include some fun icons in the artwork… ferris wheels, circus tents, the cute ticket booth, carousel animals and more. I really really LOVE how they turned out and especially because you can use them in so many ways! They are so whimsical and cute and totally work for party decor, scrapbook pages about your kids, birthday cards etc. They fall right in that window of trendy and cute and also totally versatile – not too sophisticated and not too juvenile either. My goal was to be able to use these products for our family memories and also for our little ones too and I am so happy with how it turned out. Depending on which products you choose and how you spin it, CAROUSEL really works for all ages!

Then of course, there are LOTS of everyday icons and fun art that goes with everything – hearts, stars, bows, florals and lots of great staple patterns like stripes, polka dots, marble, scallops, buffalo check, etc. I just LOVE playing up those basics in new and interesting ways and I think you are going to have fun using all of the papers in this collection!

I could talk about it all for hours, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves and not keep you waiting any longer… Here’s a pretty big peek into what CAROUSEL is all about!! We will be sharing lots more photos and full images of all the papers and products in a few weeks, so stay tuned!! Some of these are the artist renderings of the products so you can get a good idea of what they will look like, but I can’t wait for you to see the real things too!! I am SUPER EXCITED about everything and especially the new products like the puffy word stickers, banner shapes, RIBBON!!, the metal enamel shapes!!, and the ribbon bows! I’ve done smaller ribbon bows before, but these are BIG and I think you are going to love the size of them!! So fun! Also, the way the ribbon is packaged… I can’t wait for you to see! It is total happiness for me!!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this little peek and it makes me even more excited to show you everything in real life and in use on some projects! Right now my studio is covered in all the new products and I am having so much fun creating with all of this. We will have lots of fun ideas and inspiration for using everything and I can’t wait to share it all with you!

For now, because I am so excited, we are doing a giveaway of the new products!! Leave a comment here on this post telling me what you are most excited about seeing from the new collection. I will draw a winner at random and announce it on June 21st. Also watch my Instagram for ways to get extra entries!! P.S. Tips for Making Cute DIY Cards

In Cards, Chasing Dreams, Crafts, Crate Paper, DIY, Handmade, Maggie Holmes Design Team, My Product Line, Tips

Recreating the wheel is definitely not something you need to do when you are scrapbooking or making cards! All too often I think we fall into the trap of thinking we have to do something totally different every single time we sit down to make a page or card. But in all reality, it’s absolutely OK to stick with a style you love and even use previous designs or layouts as a framework or “sketch” for another project! It takes the frustration out of the process and also allows you the freedom to stick with designs you’ve tried before and love!

It’s in the choosing of your products that your page or card will turn out looking very different and unique anyway! For example, Jessy used the same basic design or “sketch” to create both of her cards below, but they feel very different in the end. One has a large title/message and the other one has smaller sentiments and a big pop of yellow. At first glance you might not even realize she used the same formula to create both. Follow her lead and create a bunch of cards at once, using the same basic design idea. You will love the process and the results!!

Handmade cards are really fun & easy to create. Often times, it is something I would create when I wanted to be creative but having limited crafting time. This is when I choose to work on a smaller canvas. Working on a smaller canvas can be really fun. Sometimes that will spark amazing ideas for bigger projects like scrapbooking layouts. And today, let me share with you 2 handmade cards I created just by featuring 3 products: ephemera die-cuts, stickers and glittered acetateI began with a white base for both cards. Then I adhered glittered acetate as a background. Once the background was adhered to the base, I stuck the paper rosette in the middle and slowly layered the other ephemera die-cuts all around it. I completed the cards with sentiments. Easy peasy and yet they look so pretty!

Do you notice that these handmade cards are somewhat similar? The “sketch” I had in mind for the first card led to the second card, where I added a couple more layers to it. I absolutely love how the glittered acetate creates a subtle background against the bright colored ephemera die-cuts. I hope these cards inspire you today. Thank you so much for coming by! xoxo JessyHappy Thursday!!

My Craft Room Tour Part 1

In Crafts, Crate Paper, Handmade, home decor, Home Tour, Interior Design, My Home, My Product Line, Organization, Party Decor, Scrapbooking

Hi friends! March is National Craft Month and you know I love all things handmade and crafty so I am super excited about celebrating something I am so passionate about!! I always say I am a creative person at heart and it’s because the art of creating really does seep into most everything I do! Whether it is working on my product line for Crate Paper, making scrapbook pages and mini albums, taking photos, planning a birthday party or designing and decorating our home… I truly do love all things creative! And I literally can’t help but put my creative touch on everything! Even the way I store and organize things in my craft room! I like to make it functional but of course it has to be cute at the same time. And the creative aspect of styling it all to make it look pretty is something I find myself doing all the time. It’s half the fun I think! I especially love keeping new products and/or new treasures from the thrift store out in the open and on display like this. Not only does it make my studio a happy place for me to be in, but I am also more likely to use things that I can see!If you’ve been in my home, you know I am a collector of cake plates. I literally can’t get enough! They are everywhere haha! One thing I love most about them is that they are great for displays and for lifting things you want to display to different heights. They also make for super cute storage because you can keep your current favorite crafting supplies on them and it all looks fabulously styled at the same time… kind of like a store display, and who doesn’t love that! While at the Craft & Hobby Creativation trade show last month, I shared all the new Crate Paper storage products on my insta stories. (The cake plates are pictured above.) This collection of cute organization and storage products was a BIG hit at the show! Everyone wanted to know where and when they could get it all!! I mean, who doesn’t love to make the space they work in pretty and functional at the same time! I got my hands on some of these darling new storage products and they fit in perfectly with everything else I already had!How cute and fabulous are these mint green berry baskets! I use them for storing anything from square instagram photos to ribbon, yarn tassels, you name it!You might have noticed that this is only part of my craft room… mainly because I love to take a ton of photos and it’s too much to share the whole room in one post! This area is one of my favorites in the room so I decided to share it first! I scored this regency style bamboo campaign dresser off Craigslist and it functions so well because it adds lots of storage in the drawers. On top I keep a rotating mix of products that I use for scrapbooking and crafting and also props I use for styling pretty photos when we release new product lines etc. I also keep things I mentioned before on here that double as storage items but also look pretty at the same time – cake plates, vintage bowls, candy dishes, milk glass plates etc. Oh and I typically have a number of my current favorite thrifted art leaning here as well…. things I am wanting to frame or things that just make me happy and inspired to have in here! I’m loving this mint paper rack organizer because it holds 12×12 papers! On it I keep the papers from my newest collection, along with recent scrapbook pages that I’ve created! I also keep all of my chipboard sticker sets on here because I use them a ton and I like to mix and match those from older collections. Once again it really makes it functional to have the papers and stickers I’m currently using the most right at my fingertips! Thanks for taking a peek inside my workspace! I will share more of the other areas soon. Also I’d love to hear what things you like to have in your craft room or workspace! Do you like to make it pretty too and keep things out on display or do you prefer to have everything tucked away? It’s fun to hear how others stay organized and inspired at the same time!!

The Cutest DIY Notecards!

In Cards, Chasing Dreams, Crafts, Crate Paper, DIY, Maggie Holmes Design Team, My Product Line

Hi friends! Hope you are doing well! Now that my designers all have the new Chasing Dreams collection I can’t wait to see what they create with it! It’s so rewarding for me to see how all of my favorite creative minds use each of the products! Today Amanda has a darling project for us that you can easily make with your kids too! I know my girls would LOVE to make these! In fact, one of their favorite things to do is make cards for friends and family and basically anyone! It’s fabulous to see their little souls being filled up through the simple act of sharing some kind words and a thoughtful gesture with someone! Read on for the full tutorial for how to make these darling DIY Spring themed cards!

If you’re like me, there is something so exciting about opening the mail box and seeing a bright colored envelope or small package. Receiving “happy mail” makes the day brighter but sending it is just as exciting. I have talked about this subject multiple times, mostly because it is so dear to my heart. Sending a little happy mail note doesn’t have to cost a lot of money either. Today I am sharing a super simple way to create cute pattern paper notecards using Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams paper collection.First off, let’s gather our supplies. You will need —-

Pattern paper (I chose to use the small 6×6 paper pad as the patterns are printed smaller and they look great on smaller sized projects.)

White cardstock paper

Double sided adhesive runner

Typewriter or pen

Chipboard Stickers

Washi Tape

Once you have all your supplies gathered, begin by rolling your permeant adhesive onto one side of your card stock card. Place your white card stock paper onto the back side of your pattern paper. I like to line my card up to the outside edge of the pattern paper. This helps make sure my card is straight. Pressing firmly, make sure your two papers stick together. Once your papers are stuck together, use your scissors and cut the pattern paper and card edges. Before I began to embellish my note card I used my typewriter to write a little message. If you don’t have a typewriter you can use a pen or pencil. Now the fun part, decorating and embellishing!!!! I love using card stock stickers as they add a little dimension to the card. When I typed my message I made sure I left a large space so I could place my butterfly on top.Slip your finished card into your colored envelope and seal with a piece of washi tape!!! I am just loving how these double sided cards turned out and they took less then 20 minutes to make!!!Just think if we all took 20 minutes once a week/month to send a friend a little note!! Imagine all the smiles we could create!!!!

Happy Thursday!
